Three Jewish Brothers Entertain the YouTube Community and Bring Holiday Spirit with Hanukkah Parodies of Pop Songs
Bethlehem, Pa. (PRWEB) November 29, 2012
It is less than two weeks away from Hanukkah 2012, and Fairfax, VA’s Jewish brother trio, Borenstein-Boyz (abbreviated B-Boyz), are hitting YouTube with yet another clever and fun Hanukkah parody song.
Since 2008, brothers Ben (now 14), Jake (12) and Max (9) have been making parodies of well-known pop songs, turning them into fun, creative Hanukkah celebrations. With every year comes a new song — sung by all three boys — and music video uploaded to YouTube to accompany them. The B-Boyz have also taken their recorded musical parody entertainment from the screen to live performances at venues such as local school talent shows and temples.
The B-Boyz have gained national attention on YouTube with their Hanukkah songs and videos. Their latest song, “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To DREIDEL),” a spoof on the popular Beastie Boys song, quickly reached over 126,000 views within its first week of being uploaded.
Not only did the B-Boyz produce this video to celebrate their faith’s holiday, the Festival of Lights and Celebration of Religious Freedom, but also as a tribute to the Beastie Boys and the hip hop trio’s late founder, Adam Yauch, the original of all Jewish B-Boys and avid supporter of world human rights.
Former parodies include: “A Dynamite Hanukkah” (a parody of the song “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz), “Menorah Hearts” (parodying Adam Levine and Gym Class Heroes’ “Stereo Hearts”) and their debut “Pass the Matzah” (a parody of the ’80s hit “Pass the Dutchie” by Musical Youth). Each year, the boys raise funds for professional sound recording by raking leaves in neighbors’ yards. The collecting of leaves fundraising, song creating, and collaborative video producing with the Borenstein family and B-Boyz’s friends as “extras” have become Hanukkah holiday traditions for the family and their friends of various faiths.
B-Boyz — with the help of Friends of All Faiths (FOAF) — help spread a youthful holiday spirit with their “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To DREIDEL)” Hanukkah hit this season. The B-Boyz do not create the Hanukkah song parodies and videos for money or in preparation of a career in entertainment; the young brothers are truly trying to bring the holiday spirit to people in a cool and unconventional way.
