Business Author Provides A New Survival Guide to Strengthen Non-Profit Brands with Internal Marketing

Bethlehem, Pa.— Sybil F. Stershic, experienced business professional and owner of Quality Service Marketing, introduces her second book titled Share of Mind, Share of Heart: Marketing Tools of Engagement for Non-profits. The book explores the broad value of effective marketing in non-profit organizations, as well as the dynamic people involved—from employees to board members.

“My own experience as a non-profit advisor and volunteer…guided me in writing this book as a guide to the foundation and practical tools that will enable non-profits to better engage the people behind the mission: the employees and volunteers who represent a non-profit’s brand,” said Stershic. A native of Wilkes-Barre, she began working with nonprofits as a youth volunteer.

Share of Mind, Share of Heart, which was released through WME Books, a division of Windsor Media Enterprises of Colorado, focuses on the importance of non-profits voicing their specific and rich missions through marketing. It also illustrates how to enhance the unique and invaluable internal community of people that directly supports non-profit causes: their employees and volunteers. As these are the people who make the gears spin, Stershic recognizes the critical value of effectively engaging these groups in a variety of ways.

“It’s important to remember three things when working in the non-profit world. First, the mission matters; second, the people behind the mission matter; and third, people’s passion for the mission should not be taken for granted,” said Stershic. “This book points out ways to help you sustain those three important facts.”

In Stershic’s extensive non-profit resumé as volunteer, committee member, advisory member, board member, board chair, and marketing and organizational advisor, she was able to draw on her abundant experiences and professional evaluations of the non-profit world to compile this new book. Moreover, she was able to incorporate the perspectives and anecdotes of other non-profit employees and volunteers as well. Among the nonprofit organizations cited in her new book, she quotes executives of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute and the Northeast PA Area Health Education Center.

Stershic released her first book, Taking Care of the People Who Matter Most: A Guide to Employee-Customer Care, in 2007 to share the power of internal marketing and communications, employee commitment and customer service. In Share of Mind, Share of Heart, Stershic applies those disciplines to the non-profit sector and shows how they impact non-profit marketing and brand strength.
